A Child Called "It"

The book A Child Called "It" recounts the true story of a child named Dave who was brutally abused by his mother. His life started off in a "perfect family." However, his parents drifted away from each other and his mother stopped living her life and started drinking. This led to her starting to abuse Dave. The abusive mother tortured him in all the ways one can imagine. The book graphically describes the way she made his life a living nightmare. 

We recommended this book to someone that enjoys reading realistic books. We also recommend this book to someone that enjoys reading tragic, nonfiction books. The Lost Boy is the sequel to this book. It gives you  further details on Dave Pelzer's life. Our book group gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars because of its compelling, yet sad story.
