A Long Way Gone

Do you ever feel like reading something that actually has some truth and moral conviction inside of it's deeply written pages? Then A Long Way Gone is the book for you! This incredible novel, written by Ishmael Beah himself, covers this young boys life as his village in Sierra Leone is attacked and him and his brother and friends must flee to different villages scrounging for food and temporary safety. Eventually Ishmael finds himself in the wrong hands and he is captured by the Rebels and is forced into being a child soldier being hooked on drugs such as Cocaine, Marijuana, and others to keep his blood pumping. This book is indeed graphic, incredibly realistic, and an enormous wake up call to people around the world as his true story is told through the use of literature. I highly recommend this read to anyone above the age of 13 that is looking for a thrilling read.
