Overview: Thomas wakes up in a moving elevator only remembering his name. When the doors open, the scared boy is plucked out and surrounded by several other boys ranging in different ages. Tom learns that he has entered The Glade. The tribe of boys have set up life in the middle of a giant maze. No one knows how or why the hundreds of boys have been dropped in the Glade. After Thomas arrives, things begin to change and the group realizes that they will not survive if they stay in the dangerous labyrinth. Will the teens find their way out and finally find some answers? Or will they be executed by the merciless monsters called the Grievers?
Review: As the first book in the trilogy, The Maze Runner starts out a little slow; however, teaches the reader important traits of a leader and person. If you enjoy books like the Hunger Games, Divergent or any adventurous journey, the Maze Runner is for you. It contains, suspense, mystery and extreme situations. Sadly, there are murmurs that the recent movie adaption of the exciting novel strays away from the original story line. Overall, I give this book a four out of five stars.
